Welcome to my life!

Dear blog,
This morning I woke up around 6 am at my home outside Jericho (pictured above), davened, fixed the roofing above the goat pen, worked on launching my web site, and sprayed pesticides on the olive trees...

Oh, wait a second. Let's start a bit earlier. Who am I, and what's going on here?

My name is Zev and as of today, I am about a day away from launching my latest web site, which I will talk about plenty as time goes on. I have also been living for the past two and a half weeks on a tiny farm 2 km east of Jericho, just adjacent to Israel's border with Jordan. How did I get here from my cushy apartment in Jerusalem's Rechavia neighborhood? That's another topic that will be expanded on greatly as this blog develops. But what I will say now is that my experiences over the past several years have proven to me that the religious yuppie hi-tech lifestyle was not working for me, and that I had to move to the wilderness to search for it. I spent some time making friends with shepherds, and eventually decided that I had to try things for myself. At the same time, the web site I've been working on, in different stages for almost a year, is just about ready to launch. I simetimes feel that Hashem was arranging life that I had to move out here in order to launch it.

That's my intro. I've got a lot of stories to tell, and a lot of hi-tech friends who want to live vicariously through me. So let's get started...
